Tips for renting a car in Cyprus -
A guide for tourists
1. Driving on the left-hand side - Cyprus drives on the left, which may be unusual for Polish drivers. We recommend exercising extreme caution at roundabouts and intersections.
2. Driver's Documents and Age - You'll need a valid driving license (Polish or international) to rent. The minimum age is usually 21, but some rental companies may require 25.
3. Rental amenities - When choosing a car, pay attention to additional options such as air conditioning or child seats, which are often offered free of charge by local rental companies.
4. Insurance - Check the terms of your insurance - it typically covers basic damage, but it's worth considering full insurance for added peace of mind.
5. Roads and Parking - Cyprus has a well-developed road network, but parking can be limited in city centers. Use designated parking lots whenever possible.
6. Refueling - In Cyprus, most gas stations are self-service. Be sure to know whether your car requires unleaded or diesel fuel.
7. Explore the island - Renting a car is a great way to explore Cyprus – from the beaches of Larnaca to the Troodos Mountains. It's worth planning your route and avoiding unpaved roads, especially if your car isn't suitable for off-road driving.
8. Returning the car - Before returning the car, make sure the fuel tank is at the appropriate level (as specified in the contract). Also, check that you haven't left any personal items behind.
